Linux Engineer
Course Description
The Linux Engineer course prepares students to achieve their LPIC-2 certification. The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is the go-to certification body for vendor independent Linux certifications. This course is about 50% lab to lecture ratio, combining expert instructor-led discussions with practical hands-on skills that emphasize current techniques, best practices, and standards.
What will you learn?
Working in this hands-on lab environment, guided by our expert practitioner, attendees will be able to:
- perform advanced system administration, including common tasks regarding the Linux kernel, system startup and maintenance;
- perform advanced management of block storage and file systems as well as advanced networking and authentication and system security, including firewall and VPN;
- install and configure fundamental network services, including DHCP, DNS, SSH, web servers, file servers using FTP, NFS and Samba, email delivery;
- supervise assistants and advise management on automation and purchases.
Who is this course for?
This is a systems administration course, geared for Systems Administrators who wish to learn how to administer a small to medium-sized site, plan, implement, maintain, secure and troubleshoot a small mixed (MS, Linux) network. Including a LAN server (samba), internet gateway (firewall, proxy, mail, news), or internet server (webserver, FTP server).
Prerequisites:
In addition to their professional experience, students who take this training should have:
- Active LPIC-1 Exam 101 and LPIC-1 Exam 102.
- 3 years of experience as system or network administrator is recommended.

Certification Exam
Exam: LPI-2 Certification®, exams 201-450 and 202-450
LPIC-2 is the second certification in the multi-level professional certification program of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI). The LPIC-2 will validate the candidate's ability to administer small to medium–sized mixed networks. To become LPIC-2 certified the candidate must be able to:- perform advanced system administration, including common tasks regarding the Linux kernel, system startup and maintenance;
- perform advanced Management of block storage and file systems as well as advanced networking and authentication and system security, including firewall and VPN;
